伴隨兩岸經貿持續往來，以及中國政府拉攏台灣農漁民的施惠政策推展，一般認為相對處與弱勢的台灣農漁民，在兩岸貿易政策的立場值得關注。本研究問題為：台灣農漁民是否將因為本身可能從貿易往來得到好處，支持開放政策，獲利可能偏低則傾向保護？而政黨偏好的因素，是否因為經貿交往下的自利考量而無發揮作用？又或者將造成何種影響？ 本研究從「商品性質」、「經營型態」與「參與程度」，評估「獲利可能」的高低對「政策立場」的影響，其次關照「政黨偏好」的對「政策立場」的影響影響。本研究採取質性研究法，透過與雲嘉兩地農漁民訪談調查結果發現：個人獲利可能的考量決定貿易政策的立場，但政黨偏好並非毫無發揮作用，當獲利可能性與政黨偏好一致時，有強化的效果，政黨偏好與政策立場互為影響；反之，獲利可能性與政黨偏好出現矛盾時，政策立場固然仍是以自利考量為主，但政黨偏好拉扯原先自利導向的政策立場的情況，只不過關連較弱，不足以扭轉自利的因素。
